Save Time with These Steps To Structure Successful Online Courses

Having worked with so many businesses delivering online training, either as a lead generation strategy or as paid courses, I noticed that most trainers repeat the same content over and over again.
In other words, they don’t know how to make online courses in a sustainable way.
Be honest, how often do you teach or explain the same thing, over and over again?
Table Of Content
This isn’t a good use of your time and it doesn’t provide additional value to your students.
Instead, provide recordings of your core content and use your live interaction time to answer questions and lead your students through experiential exercises.
How to Structure an Online Course or Series
I’ve had clients significantly cut down their time teaching live classes while increasing their sales and the satisfaction of their students using this strategy.
Here’s how it works:
- Map out your training curriculum and identify the concepts you always teach in the same manner
- Use a prior record or make new recordings to teach the repeatable elements of your training (you can do a solo recording or with a live audience)
- Implement an automated system that delivers all of your recorded lessons
- Add in live Q&A calls, group practice/exercise calls, and/or forms and forums for students to ask questions
Let’s say you have an 8-week program, you can deliver this content through recordings and insert 3 live calls.
This will free up your time while providing additional value to your students. They’ll receive meaningful insights and feedback during their time with you, in addition to the recorded training material.
You’ll be sure to increase the price of client programs while reducing the amount of time spent teaching over and over again!
How do I get started building a great structure for my online courses?
If you don’t have a learning management system (LMS), read our article on why we recommend LearnDash to organize your online training.
My clients that have large cohorts of students often use recorded materials combined with a form for students to submit questions.
Then they make recordings answering all of the questions and add it to the course as bonus content!
