DONE-FOR-YOU WEBSITE COOKIE PREFERENCE WIDGET
Granular cookie preferences to your visitors in Europe, California, Colorado, Virginia and privacy regulated countries in a marketing friendly way!
Did you know…
California, Virginia, Colorado, Australia, Brazil and many states and countries are adopting privacy regulation that targets businesses with traffic from these areas.
GDPR Regulation applies to websites with visitors or clients from any of the EU Countries even if you are located in a non-EU country.
GDPR Article 30 States: “Natural persons may be associated with online identifiers […] such as internet protocol addresses, cookie identifiers or other identifiers […]. This may leave traces which, in particular when combined with unique identifiers and other information received by the servers, may be used to create profiles of the natural persons and identify them.”
Why should you care?
Because you are probably collecting personally identifiable information if you are running any type of marketing campaign(s).
This may expose your business to steep fines if you do not comply with privacy regulations.
GDPR Compliant “3rd party” cookies and tracking scripts collecting personally identifiable information should include:
1. Consent: Be disabled when a visitor lands on your site and be enabled by an action (clicking a toggle or button).
2. Retractable: Visitor can easily withdraw consent.
3. Granular: Each permission should be grouped by similar categories such as Analytics, Marketing and Customer Service.
4. Informed: Include a description of their function in simple language.
5. Marketing Friendly: We added this one… but if it kills your business you might as well throw in the towel!
Can you just block all visitors from Europe and avoid compliance?
Blocking all IP’s from Europe is likely going to cost much more than the cost of complying with privacy regulation.
To make things worse, countries tend to move towards uniform regulation. Multiple states within the United States, Brazil and Australia have already adopted similar regulation.
But complying with these cookie requirements is an implementation nightmare and an exercise in frustration…

Can I hide the Cookie Preference Widget to non-EU GDPR countries?
Yes! We can enable the widget to all countries, only EU countries or to a list of countries of your choice. If you choose to display it only within EU countries and similar regulation gets issued by other countries we can change the settings within a few minutes to help you comply.
Do I really need this?
Probably. Most websites have at least ONE visitor from a EU GDPR country. Similar to the FTC in the US we can expect reciprocity agreements to be made and enforced by countries outside of the EU to help fine non-compliant businesses.
Best marketing practices are to collect data on your visitors and clients to better personalize your services, ads and offers. This typically involves collecting fragments of information that can be combined to create “personally identifiable information”. This type of information requires explicit consent from your visitors prior to being collected as well as the ability for your visitors to retract this consent.
