Am I running the latest WooCommerce Update?

If you don’t already know, WooCommerce is a WordPress application that powers the majority of online stores.

A large segment of our client-base and followers of The Digital Navigator use WooCommerce to collect online payments from their customers.

You can verify if your website is running WooCommerce by logging in your website administrator dashboard. On the left-side panel you will see “WooCommerce” if this is installed.

You’ll want to update to the latest version of WooCommerce as soon as possible to ensure nothing breaks on your website and that it stays secure.

We take care of this weekly for our website performance plan clients and use a special firewall that protects their sites from vulnerabilities in between weekly updates.

Here are the steps to perform the update.

  1. Create a backup of your website.
  2. Test your backup is working properly. *Many backup services and hosting providers have limitations in their terms and conditions which may result in the backup failing when you need it.
  3. Log into your website. Then go to Plugins on the left-side panel and click on Update below the WooCommerce plugin name.
  4. Perform all other necessary site updates to avoid compatibility issues. (WordPress Core, Theme, Plugins)
  5. Load an incognito window and test your website to confirm everything functions properly.

Last but not least, get in touch and schedule a complimentary consultation if you want an expert to look at your site before performing any updates.

That’s it for today!
