Registering a Phone Number to Send SMS (Twilio)

1. Create Twilio account

You need a Twilio account to send SMS.

2. Rename Twilio account
What is happening:
Renaming the account makes it easier for your team and TDN to identify it.
What you can do first:
- Rename the account to Hozho Healing.
3. Invite TDN
What is happening:
TDN needs access to configure and verify SMS setup.
What you can do first:
- Invite help@thedigitalnavigator.com to your Twilio account.
4. Buy phone number
What is happening:
The phone number must support SMS.
What you can do first:
- Use Twilio’s Phone Number search tool to buy a number.
- You may choose a toll-free or local number.
- Ask TDN if you are unsure which number type to choose.
5. Send number to TDN
What is happening:
FCC verification is required before the number can be used.
What you can do first:
- Share your purchased number with TDN for FCC verification.
6. FCC approval process
What is happening:
Twilio requires approval for A2P 10DLC campaigns before SMS can be used for automations.
What TDN will do:
- Create the required mock-up page.
- Update your website to support compliance requirements.
- Submit the campaign for FCC approval.
Approximate fee: $15–30 total, depending on the campaign type.
7. Connect to automation
What is happening:
Once approved, the number can be used in your automations.
What TDN will do:
- Notify you once the number is approved.
- Connect the number to your automation system.
